WHO IS CHARLYNE BRUMSKINE?

 Reconciliation, Transformation & Empowerment

  • Counsellor Charlyne Mnamah-Mar Brumskine is a Mother, a Counsellor-at-Law, an Advocate and a Nationalist!

  • She is a legislative aspirant for District 3, Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.

  • She was born on May 28, 1976 to the union of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine (the Late) and Mrs. Estelle Vicky Brumskine.

  • She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York State and her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington D.C.

  • She is the Managing Partner and Founder of CMB Law Group, LLC.  She is licensed to practice law in the Republic of Liberia and New York State. 

  • She is one of a few Liberian women who owns and manages a leading law firm.

  • She is a professor of law at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law.

  • She is the Chair of the Brumskine Family Foundation.

  • She sits on a number of corporate and not-for-profit boards in Liberia, in the education and banking sectors.

HUMANITARIAN CONTRIBUTIONS TO GRAND BASSA and LIBERIA

PROJECTS:

  1. LIGHTING UP BUCHANAN Project— Bringing solar energy and light to Buchanan City.  In the process of installing over 100 Solar Light Poles throughout the darkest and most vulnerable areas of Buchanan City, Grand Bassa.  Project is set to conclude August 2023.

  2. DIGNITY IN WATER Project—Provide sustainable clean water, sanitation and hygiene to communities in Buchanan by rehabilitating and chlorinating wells and water pumps throughout Buchanan. 

  3. EMPOWER OUR YOUTH Project. Educates, employs and mentors scores of youth in Liberia with an emphasis on Grand Bassa County.

CONTRIBUTIONS:

  1. Created a $1,000,000Liberian Dollar Educational Fund for students in Grand Bassa County.

  2. Donated over $500,000Liberian Dollar towards purchasing essential medical supplies, fuel, and food provisions for the Bassa Referral Hospital in Buchanan and continues to raise awareness of the health needs of the County.

  3. Contributed financially to numerous Grand Bassa University Student Union (GBUSU) programs and initiatives including the construction of the Resource Center at the University of Liberia.

  4. She has been asked to be the Keynote Speaker for a number of Youth-Centered and operated initiatives in Liberia such as the Orphans, Needy and Abandoned Children (ONAC) organization; Go Girl Lead, Books Before Boy; Liberia Football Association and Women in Football, Lonestar MTN International Women’s Day Program.

  5. She has been Chief Judge and financial supporter of the Liberia National Debate Program for over 3 years.  She served as the Deputy Chief Adjudicator for the Liberia National Debate Program 2019, operated by Youth For Change. Chief Launcher for the 2023 National Debates Kickoff in Grand Bassa.

  6. She ensures that her law firm, CMB Law Group, through its Corporate Social Responsibility policy, gives back a percentage of its annual profits to educate young Liberians from Kindergarten through University.

  1. She has provided scholarships, WAEC support and funding to the following schools:

    1. Bassa High School

    2. Kpanay High School

    3. DRIMS Academy

    4. Buchanan Seven Day Adventist High School

 

NON-HUMANITARIAN CONTRIBUTIONS TO LIBERIA

  • Professor of Law at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, Monrovia, Liberia.

  • Board of Trustees, Harvest Intercontinental American University, Inc.

  • Board of Directors, a financial institution in Liberia.

  • Counsellor Brumskine formerly served as the Chair of the Arbitration Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA).

  • Cllr. Brumskine formerly served as the Legal Officer for the African Women Leadership Organization (AWLO)- Liberia Chapter.  AWLO is a global organization with a mission to empower women of African descent worldwide.

 

LEGISLATIVE ACTION AND REVIEW

  • She was the Lead Consulting Lawyer to the Ministry of Justice for the drafting of the Anti-Human Trafficking National Action Plan.

  • Critical review and analysis of the Draft Financial Institutions Act.

 

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

  • Legal Luminary of the Year 2022, Corruption Watch.

  • Valedictorian of the Liberian Supreme Court Bar examination 2022.

  • Recipient of the Young Global Leaders Network recognition of the 50 Most Inspirational African Female Leaders 2021.

  • Recipient of the Liberty Young Achiever Awards, Most Influential Personality of the Year (Female) 2019.
